RESPRAYING THE BLOG. FORGETTING SOME DEMENTIA POSTS.

Some thought went into the dementia book that loomed large in my plans this year.
Being a dementia carer, I have to see to other things before I see to a book. And being a writer, seeing to other things, well, that stockpiles fuel for the book on being a dementia carer.
I want to include a few blog posts in any book(s) I put out there. And I want book(s) I put out there to be part of KDP Select.

$%!&!

Why, and what does that mean for respraying this blog?

$%!&!

Here's why. A book in KDP Select is free to read for Amazon's Prime members. I'd pick up a borrowing payment for any of those free reads, based on how far the reader scrolled through the Kindle.
And I could host discount sales to regular buyers. Or free sales to regular punters and the odd book reviewer.
The KDP thing changes with the changing industry, and it feels like a good thing to be part of. If it isn't a good thing to be part of, we can go our separate ways after 90 days. No harm, or little harm, done.

$%!&!

And here's what this means for the respraying of the blog. Material in KDP Select can't appear elsewhere electronically. It must run exclusively with Amazon.
I could do a print version. And I could run a video on YouTube, say. But a rival outfit couldn't publish another e-book version. I couldn't run the text on a commercial website or this blog.
If I bundle blog posts into a chapter of an e-book that runs exclusively on Amazon KDP, the blog posts come undone. I'm having a think about that.
This means taking the posts down. But I'll put something else up in place of the text that goes.

$%!&!

Every writer's work is work-in-progress. And we do a lot of mad shit down in the lab before the monster springs to life. Sometimes we redecorate and respray - in blood.
